Nancy’s New Life

July 21, 2022 By Steve Davis

A little over a year ago, Nancy’s* vision had deteriorated to the point where she couldn’t see well enough to work. Anxious and frustrated, she came to the Genesis clinic in Caldwell for help. The volunteer providers discovered that both her blood pressure and blood sugar were dangerously out of control.

With care, her blood sugar began to improve after the first few appointments but her blood pressure was still high. Our staff then got Nancy a cardiology appointment with a specialist who volunteers in the Garden City clinic. He discovered the source of the issue and helped her get her blood pressure under control.

After a lot of hard work and follow up, Nancy’s blood pressure and blood sugar returned to normal levels. As she began to regain her physical health, she was able focus on other important areas of her life. She was able to get a new job, move to an affordable home in West Treasure Valley, and got health insurance. Today, Nancy is an established patient with a local primary care provider—and is living with a new confidence to face whatever life throws at her.

On her last visit at Genesis before transitioning to her new primary care provider, she thanked the incredible staff and volunteers at the Caldwell location, saying she had never received such high-quality care in a place where people genuinely cared about her.

Good Samaritan — Canyon County Expansion Update

July 18, 2022 By Steve Davis

As the cost of living rises, more of the people Genesis serves (working poor that fall in the gap outside of Medicaid eligibility and being able to afford health insurance) are moving out to West Treasure Valley for more affordable housing. That means the need for whole-person healthcare in Canyon County is growing.

Genesis will meet that need by expanding whole-person services in Canyon County. God has enabled Genesis to sign a purchase agreement for a larger building in Caldwell that, when fully equipped, will provide whole-person healthcare at no cost to qualifying patients.

This project was kicked off with an anonymous donation of $1,000,000!

The most recent update is the Harry W. Morrison foundation is supporting the Good Samaritan Canyon County Expansion. They have donated $150,000 to help make this possible. $100,000 of that amount is a matching grant, which means the next $100,000 of donations to the Good Samaritan Project will be doubled.

Currently, The Good Samaritan Project has received 1.2 million of the 3.1 million dollars needed. With full hearts, we thank the Harry W. Morrison Foundation for their dedication to providing the West Treasure Valley with health, hope, and healing.

You can double your impact by donating here or sharing this project with someone that you know. If you know someone who might be interested in partnering in a significant way, please email adrienne@genesisch.org.
