This legacy approach offers the opportunity to arrange now for a donation to Genesis that will be paid in the future. Such a financial lifeline enables Genesis to optimize its cash flow, and even help it operate during economically challenging times.
Ultimately, every dollar you give supplies $3.82 in free healthcare services to low-income and uninsured Treasure Valley neighbors. You are deeply appreciated by Genesis and its patients.
Planned Giving options to consider:
– Including a bequest to Genesis in your will.
– Designating Genesis as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or retirement plan.
– Establishing a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)
– Establishing a Charitable Trust (CLT) as part of your estate plan.
Donor Advised Fund:
A donor-advised fund (DAF) account is a simple, tax-smart investment solution for giving to Genesis. You can set up a DAF account with an investment firm or community foundation by contributing cash, securities, investments, or appreciated assets.
You are generally eligible to take an immediate tax deduction for the current year. Those funds can be invested in tax-free growth, and you can recommend grants to Genesis.
Charitable Lead Trusts (CRT) and Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRT):
Both DAFs and CRTs involve placing assets into a trust.
With a CLT, Genesis receives cash flow from those assets each year for a fixed period of time, after which the remaining assets can be sent to other beneficiaries.
A CRT, on the other hand, works in the opposite way, paying annual distributions to you or other beneficiaries for a set period of time, after which the remaining assets are given to Genesis.
You need to consult with a professional, such as an estate planning attorney or a financial advisor, to set up and administer either type of trust.
